District of Columbia Cesarean Rates

The District of Columbia has a high NTSV cesarean rate. In 2015, 27.1% of first-time moms with low-risk deliveries gave birth by cesarean.

The good news is that VBAC occurs more frequently in DC than in most other states. In 2014, 17% of women with a previous cesarean gave birth vaginally.

Contact your department of health if you want them to publish hospital-level maternity data.

If you don't see your hospital's rate on the Leapfrog Group web site, it's because they don't report their maternity data to the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Take action! Ask them why not.
