Pregnant Cougar in Florida Escaped En Route to a Cesarean Section

Maybe the Florida c-section rate is so high because it includes wildlife.

From Fox News on May 3, 2009:

POINCIANA, Fla.— Wildlife officials are looking for a pregnant cougar that escaped into the woods in central Florida while being transferred to a cage.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the cougar escaped Saturday while being prepared for a trip to the veterinarian for a cesarean section.

Jungle Adventures in Christmas has a permit to own the cougar.

Officials say the cougar was born in captivity and is named Sierra. The cat’s front paws are declawed and it’s wearing a collar.

Perhaps the cougar just wanted a DBAC (Den Birth after Cesarean) and didn’t want to be coerced into a repeat c-section.
